We CAN make a difference!
You can grow your own food at a local school, church or in your own back yard.
This is a project through Can Do Houston, an organization headed by Miss Katy Atkiss and the first effort was at Bruce Elementary School. Katy called and asked me if I would help her with purchasing and installing fruit trees and the raised beds to grow veggies at the school. It was a great opportunity for me to help educate people in preparing and planting edibles in a garden. I was totally psyched to be apart of such a great effort.
It was so impressive to see how the community comes together to participate in such a important project. Teachers, parents, students and even local residents came out to get involved. What a fantastic day and it all came together within 3 hours. Check it out!!

There is more to come and it might just be at a school near you

Do you need your trees pruned of dead limbs or dead tree removal?
We get calls all the time from customers asking if Leyendecker Landscape is insured, but one customer called and proceeded to explain how he hired a company to come and remove dead trees from his property, and then told me that a large limb went through the roof of his house. He failed to find out if the company was insured and just went with the cheapest bid. Not only is he out thousands to do the roof repair, but he still has dead trees to remove from his property.
Leyendecker Landscape recommends getting 2 or 3 estimates. Most likely they will all be fairly close in price. Then you can decide on the one you feel most comfortable with, but make sure they have proof of insurance as well.
Call Leyendecker Landscape if you need help with :
* Yard clean up
* Tree work
* Landscape Design and Installation of Landscaping.
* Irrigation
* Drainage
* Wood work
* Pavers or Concrete work
* Veggie Gardens or Edible Landscaping.
We offer free consultations and are insured for both residential or commercial projects.
Now is the time to consider getting ideas for your landscaping, plan your vegetable garden or just do a simple one day makeover.

Protect your current landscape by having Leyendecker Landscape come and amend your existing soil, do a general cleaning up by removing any weeds, unwanted or dead material or lightly prune or trim your shrubs, add some hardy seasonal color to give your garden a boost and most importantly, add plenty of compost, pine needles or mulch to help retain moisture and keep your plants cool to survive these brutal temperatures.
Look at what a little bit of texture and variations of green can do.

Courtyards are a fun and easy fix. Give Leyendecker Landscape a call!

This is how your yard can look even with 104 degree temperatures!

A simple court yard can look so much better with a little clean up, color and some trimming!

Just by adding or sprucing up your pots can make such a difference!

Call Leyendecker Landscape now and let us salvage or spruce up your existing landscape. It’s better to spend a little money to protect your investment rather than have to go and replace everything and spend a fortune.
Now that we are in August, and just because it’s Hotter Than Hell….does not mean that you can’t still have beautiful landscaping.
Leyendecker Landscape is performing one day make overs and tree trimming services to spruce up your property.

For example, we will come in and quickly assess what would be most effective and give you the biggest bang for your buck, especially if you are planning on entertaining friends and family in the next few summer months. Even if you just allow us to come in and weed the flowerbeds, loosen the hard soils around your plantings and add a good mulch. This will help protect your plants and save you much $$$$ in the long run, rather than just watching everything die and investing in all new landscaping.
Here are a few things to consider doing right now to save your landscaping and your pocket book:
* spruce up the flowerbeds by loosening the soil around your plants. This drought we are having is causing soils to harden so nothing can penetrate or be absorbed.
* Adding good mulch or compost to your plants is a great thing to do right now. This will help retain more moisture and keep your plants from dying from drought.
* Up-date or add a sprinkler system to protect your landscaping. If you do not have the appropriate water to your landscaping, your plants will not survive this triple digit heat we are having.
* Trim your trees!! In addition to protecting your landscaping, we are officially in Hurricane season; Leyendecker landscape highly recommends tree trimming or pruning right now. Protect your house and salvage your trees by pruning any dead or weak limbs.

Here is what you can do with a small piece of property. Talk about functional!
Think about how many people you could feed? An entire family or even a few families could benefit from a small garden. Its all in the planning. By the way…… this garden was planted mostly by seed and was ready to harvest in just over 2 months. I was here to witness it and helped with the harvesting. I had corn and eggplant for days
